APRIL 2016 SPELLING BEE
Senior Spelling Bee Contest—Friday, April 22, at 10:00 am for Jo Daviess County held at our office at 500 Fillmore St., Hanover and Monday, April 25, 2016 at 10:00 am for Stephenson County at the Senior Resource Center, 206 E. Stephenson St., Freeport. The Illinois State Senior Spelling Bee competition is an exciting statewide program that pro- vides Illinois adults age 50 and older the opportunity to showcase a lifetime of knowl- edge and to celebrate years of experience through spelling abilities. The program is coordinated by the Association of Illinois Senior Centers with the help. Aaron Wilson from WIFR TV will be the pronouncer at the Freeport Spelling Bee.
APPOINTMENTS AT THE LENA LIBRARY
Tuesday, April 26 from 9:30 to 3:30 a Resource Specialist from the Senior Resource Center will be available at the Lena Library, 300 W Mason St, Lena, IL. to assist with prop- erty tax freeze and help with applying for your discount on your license plate sticker. Please call 815-235-9777 x221 to make an appointment. You will need to bring your 2015 income tax information to this appointment.
EXERCISE CLASS
FREEPORT - Join us Wednesday mornings, at 10:30 for forty-five minutes of fun and exercise. No experience necessary and all fitness levels are welcome. The class, taught by Dr. Julie Smith will incorporate stretching, strengthening and aerobic skills. Dr. Smith has a bachelor’s degree in physical education with an emphasis in dance and is a doctor of chiropractic medicine and board-certified naturopath. Please register by calling the SRC at 815-235-9777. The fee for the class is $5.00 and will be collected at the start of each session. These will be held at our new location, 206 E. Stephenson St. There will be no class on April 6.
HANOVER – Join us Tuesday & Thursday mornings at 9:00 for a fitness class led by Ken Mulholland. We will focus on balance, flexibility, toning and conditioning. This will be very low-impact and FUN. There will be no cost. If interested come to the Old School Gym in Hanover, 500 Fillmore St. Any questions call Ken at 563-451-3094. All are wel- come!
AARP SAFE DRIVING CLASS
The next AARP Safe Driving Classes will be held Tuesday, April 12 from 9:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. and a 2-day class April 19th and 20th from 10:00 to 2:30 These courses will provide a review of driving skills and techniques, as well as strategies and tips to help you adjust to normal age-related physical changes that may affect your driving ability. By taking these classes, you may receive a discount on your auto insurance. Cost is $15 if you are an AARP member and $20 if non-member. Bring a sack lunch. PAINTING CLASS

Barry Treu, Director of Education at the Freeport Art Museum, will guide you through step-by-step the painting of a beautiful beach scene. Cost is $20, coffee and snacks will be available.
