 Morning oat cereal
This is not strictly a starter – more of a start to your day. Over time, rolled oats have become a better cereal option than other scary cereals on the market. This is my homemade version.
INSTRUCTIONS
Soak the oats in half the milk overnight.
In a small, deep saucepan, combine the oats and the remaining milk. Stir well, and then add the boiling water. Let simmer for 10 minutes.
Serve with additional milk or cream if desired, a small knob of butter, and 2 teaspoons of honey. It is delicious on winter mornings!
INGREDIENTS
For the oats
1 cup rolled oats
1 cup cold milk (half cream, half milk)
1 cup boiling water
For the topping
Milk or cream Small knob of butter 2 tsp honey
