It is often very difficult telling artists what you are going to take or leave because, of course, they believe all their work is wonderful and accepting professional criticism is not always easy. So the negotiations can take a long time and often I sit down and we have a cup of tea and talk about other matters before starting to debate again. For me, it is important that the artists are given honest feedback and much encouragement because they are creative, passionate, intelligent geniuses who can be disheartened with too much negativity. I feel it is my job to bring the best out in them and to help them when times are bad. Having been a constant presence for 30 years, Stone Dynamics Gallery has given them stability.
Once the negotiations are complete, the sculptures chosen are taken to a specialist shipping company in Harare to be carefully and specifically packed and then sent the 1 000 km by road to our galleries in the tourist town of Victoria Falls.
