Facing page top: Inquisitive, a young hyena stares intensively back at the camera making for
excellent eye to eye photography.
Facing page bottom: A pearl-spotted owlet catches big prey. The owlet is 19cm and weighs
about 75g while the laughing dove is 25cm and weighs 100g. Although the owlet hunted
successfully, it couldn’t fly with it’s catch and chose to feed on the ground.
Above: A pride of young lions’ line-up for a drink. It’s rather a marvel to watch how animals,
including predators, carry on with their normal behavior around people.
