TSODILO HILLS
Located some three hours’ drive from Maun, in north-
western Botswana, the Tsodilo Hills are a quartzite
anomaly rising out of the Kalahari Desert, now known to
have been inhabited for 100,000 years.
An outdoor art gallery dubbed the as ‘Louvre of the
Desert’ encompasses some 4,000 rock paintings of the San
Bushmen, dating back thousands of years, strewn around
400 sites with scenes depicting hunting, ritual dances,
safari animals and more.
A UNESCO World Heritage Site, the area is sacred to
the San who revere it as a home for ancestral spirits.
KGALAGADI TRANSFRONTIER PARK
