a better person. People are attracted to that and it's far better to have them coming to you than you trying to chase them. If that fails, buy a guitar and become a lead singer in a rock band.
That's it. It took me years to learn those things and it's quite possible I'll screw them up tomorrow because hey, I'm a guy.
Thai Drivers are Crazy
Every foreigner who comes here says that and they're all wrong. It's just that there's a different system here, based on an entirely different culture. It works just fine.
First, you have to understand the rules.
One. Thai people drive on the wrong side of the road. It's their way of thinning out the herd of tourists. In Thailand we drive on the left and the steering wheel is on the right side of the car. About once a year I get in the car on the wrong side and think someone has stolen the steering wheel.
Two. Double yellow lines and yellow lines on your side of the median are just suggestions. In America, these lines say, "Do not pass". In Thailand they say, "Maybe you shouldn't pass but if you see an opening, go for it". Thai drivers pass anywhere at any time. You're in the middle of the city with a slow guy in front of you? Give it a shot. On a blind curve or a hill where you can't see oncoming traffic? Maybe you shouldn't pass but what the hell. Drivers in oncoming cars are familiar with this rule and will pull onto the shoulder to give you room. This is wise, because the alternative is a head-on collision.
Three. Every street and highway has more lanes than you think. If traffic is jammed, Thai drivers will create new lanes on the shoulders or in the median. In times of high traffic, every bit of every road is used and people know this. Also, there are thousands of motorbikes and they will creat three new lanes on any street.
Three: The normal passing lane is on the right, but if it's easier to pass on the left, no problem.
Four: Tailgating is the national sport. Deal with it.
Five: Cutting in and out of traffic is national sport number two, so you learn to watch the front wheels of the other cars. They could turn at any time.
Six: Stoplights. Stoplights are different here because if it's a four-way intersection they only allow one way at a time. This means if you hit a light that
