112 A Project of the UN Democracy Fund (UNDEF) Stratified random selection is where you have categories or criteria for who needs to be in the room. This means you are randomly selecting people, to the point where you have enough of a certain type of person. If I require half the room to be made up of male participants, then I will randomly select participants until I have enough men. From that point onwards I will not accept any more men because my quota of men is full. This is the stratification aspect.
