                 INTRODUCTION
PERSONAL PROTECTION AND INTERVENTION POLICY
KLAC is a party to and endorses the Little Athletics NSW Personal Protection and Intervention Policy. We are firmly committed to a co-ordinated and comprehensive approach to promote the protection of children and adults. In accordance with NSW Government principles for child protection and intervention, we aim to promote a safe environment for all children and adults and to recognise and notify suspected child abuse and neglect. A copy of our full policy is available on request.
Child members have the right to be safe, be listened to, be respected, be protected from abuse by other children or adults and to be referred to appropriate professional help if needed. Verbal notification of child abuse or neglect related to Little Athletics must be made to the President and to the Chief Executive Officer of the Little Athletics NSW (details on page 3 for contact details). They will coordinate the response of the appropriate government agencies. Such matters will be treated with complete confidentiality.
KLAC has a policy to meet and exceed the NSW Government’s Child Safe Scheme requirements, including obtaining relevant declarations from people having one-to-one supervision of children.
KLAC aligns to LANSW's privacy policy. KLAC collects personal information from you, in order to provide services and information associated with membership of Little Athletics such as newsletters and selection notices. The information we collect is supplied by you when you register your child or children with KLAC.
We ask for emergency medical information in case
you are not present and an emergency situation arises concerning your child. In such a case, your information may be disclosed to the attending medical personnel; this may be a First Aid Officer or ambulance staff. Your information is stored both electronically on our database and as hardcopy documents, such as the lists of athletes and their contact information issued to Age Managers. KLAC provides a copy of your information to Little Athletics NSW, with whom we are affiliated.
Your information is also made available to members of our Executive Committee so that they can carry out their responsibilities under our constitution, and to various members of KLAC, such as Age Managers, so that they can fulfil their roles. Your information is not passed to any other organisation. Unless you have elected not to receive promotional emails at the time of registration or subsequently, KLAC may provide you with information and offers from our sponsors and/or supporters. If you would prefer not to receive any information or offers via email, please contact our Secretary.
Photographs of athletes and athletes’ names may
be published in our Information Handbook, on our website, in promotional material used by our sponsors and in the press. If this is not acceptable, please contact our Secretary and request that your athlete/s’ name and photograph be withheld.
If you have any concerns about your privacy, or if you would like to view, change or correct errors in any of your personal information that we may hold, please contact our Secretary by either mail, telephone or e-mail, as listed on page 4.
