Now in its third generation, the Erbel- dinger family in Bechtheim, Rhein- hessen, has successfully been pro- ducing high quality wines for over 50 years now. And since that time their focus has been on the cultivation
of top Rieslings. The company is characterised by its love of wine and the home region, a 50-year family wine-making tradition, viticulture exper- tise and personal and business dynamism. First we have Edith and Stefan Erbeldinger, who don‘t regard themselves as the „elders of the family“, but support the younger generation with their wide experience. Edith Erbeldinger knows that the organisation behind the scenes has to be ef cient if operations are to run smoothly. And „Grand-
ma Gertrude“ is also still very active in customer support.
Christoph Erbeldinger and his partner Gundi, to- gether with Gudrun Erbeldinger-Höfferle, represent the younger generation of the wine business. For Christoph, who was born between the rows of vi- nes, so to speak, joining the family enterprise went without saying. He feels at home in the company, determines what goes on in the vineyard and cel- lar, and has a de nite ecological touch. „Sustain- able operations“ is his credo in the company.
He could probably have applied his innovative winemaking skills in foreign wineries, but that
was not an option for him. His partner Gundi is the ideal addition to the company. After trai-
ning as a cook the young Austrian rst travelled the world. Subsequent to spells working with top chefs in Asia and New York she‘s now in charge of „Gastronomie Erbeldinger`S“, where she creates culinary delicacies to go with the wines. Gudrun Erbeldinger Höfferle regards it as her mission to inspire people for wine, to „take them by the hand“ in the truest sense of the word. She does this very successfully within the company, at regional wine events and even further a eld. With his Argentini- an roots her husband Juan works in the internati- onal wine business, and sells wines from the best South American wineries.
