When we we we were putting together our pet catalog we we we we we dedicated several pages to to what we we we we we felt were the real health benefits of feeding pets a a a a a a a raw BARF BARF diet In those days BARF BARF stood for Bones and and Raw Food however more recently it has come to stand for Biologically Appropriate Raw Food!
I am pleased to say that that since we published that that catalog the the pet owning public have become much more switched on to the the the the benefits of either buying and preparing their their own ingredients for their their pets’ meals
Commercial 'kibble'
or or sourcing one of of the number of of excellent commercially prepared raw diets for pets that are now available The reason we would like like to to draw your your attention to to to this is is is because like like us us your your pet’s health is is is intrinsically linked to to their diets As the the old old adage goes “you are are what you you eat” and just as we are are being told our our our diet can have a a a a a a a a a a a a a a direct impact on our our our own health health so our our our pet’s health health can ultimately be affected by what they eat Fresh raw meat and vegetables
Which do do you you think your dog would rather eat every day?
The ancestors of our dogs and and cats have been hunting and and scavenging for their food since time immemorial However despite centuries of domestication this instinct to hunt is is still strong in in in our pets and it’s why their whole digestive system from mouth to to anus is is designed to to get the the very best out out of a a a a a raw diet utilising all the the various ingredients How many of of us have given our pets a a a a a a a lovely fresh meaty raw bone and and instead of of settling down to to eat eat they take it it out to to the the the garden and and bury it it - usually in in in the the the middle of your newly dug flower beds!? This behaviour is is instinctive it it enables your pet to to to hide the the food from other predators who may want to to to to steal it it whilst allowing the the the enzymes present in in in in the the the soil to to to to start breaking down the the the meat making it easier to to to digest or to provide a a a a a a a a a a a a meal that can be dug up at at at a a a a a later date!
Pet owners are are becoming far more aware of how important it is is for their pets to have a a a a a a a a fibre-rich diet consisting of fresh meat bones oily fish vegetables
herbs and fruit to help ensure their pets maintain a a a a a a a a healthy balanced ‘microbiome’
