Helping HAND
X If you have a ScanNCut, you can scan in the templates and use it to cut out your fabric shapes.
X Fill your bunny with dry rice instead of toy stuffing to use it as a door stop.
X If your machine doesn’t have an appliqué stitch, use a zigzag or satin stitch, or blanket stitch by hand.
X Why not fix the ribbon bow to the base of an ear to give your bunny a cute, dressed-up look?
X Instead of embroidering, you can use toy bead eyes and a plastic nose – it’ll give your bunny a totally different look.
3Using a hand sewing needle and brown embroidery floss, satin stitch the eyes and nose onto the bunny’s face, following the lines you transferred from the template [1]. Add further details, such as teeth, using 4a basic stem stitch or backstitch [2].
Place the floral Ears on top of the
appliquéd linen Ears, right sides together. On each, stitch all the way around the curved edge with a 1cm seam allowance, leaving the straight bottom edge open. Trim the excess seam allowance around the curve and turn
it through to the right side [3]. Press flat, then fold in the bottom corners so that they overlap at the bottom. Topstitch a line across the ear, approximately 5mm from the 5bottom, to hold the folds in place [4].
Position the ears linen side down, lining
up the bottom edges of the ears with the curve of the head of piece A (with the facial features) [5]. Pin in place, then place the other Body (A) on top, right sides together. Pin the two pieces together, then with a 1cm seam allowancesewaroundthecurveof thehead 6and across the shoulders [6].
Use the same process to make the Arms
(F) as you did with the ears, matching up one appliquéd piece with a non-appliquéd piece, right sides together, then stitching all the way around with a 1cm seam allowance, leaving the straight bottom edge open [7]. Trim away the excess seam allowance around 7the curve, turn through and press.
Sew Foot (E) to Front of Leg (D) with a
3mm seam allowance. Press the seam flat, then use the same process as the ears and arms to join these pieces to Back of Leg (C) [8]. Stuff the arms and legs with toy stuffing until 8firm. Leave the top inch free of stuffing.
Lay your bunny’s body down so that you
are looking at the wrong side of his back. Fold up the back body so that you can see the appliquéd tummy piece. Position the legs along the bottom edge with the lattice/
floral joined sides facing down. Pin the legs in place along the bottom edge and 9top stitch into place 1cm in.
Fold the legs down and place one of
the arms on top of the body, appliqué side down, as close to the shoulder seam as possible. Line up the straight edge of the arm with the side edge of the body. Pin in place, fold the body fabric back down and sew down the side of the
body with a 1cm seam allowance. Repeat with the second arm on the opposite side, folding the first arm down and out of the way.

Turn the bunny right side out, through the
opening on its bottom. Using a neat hand stitch, attach a small felt ball on its back for a tail. Stuff the bunny’s head and body until firm. Fold the raw edge on the bunny’s bottom under, then hand stitch closed with a neat whip stitch. Finish by wrapping a yellow ribbon around the bunny’s neck and tying it into a neat bow.
