Your
CRAFTY
Write us a Poem!
Thank you so much to everyone who sent in their brilliant poems for this issue, we really enjoyed reading through the entries. It was a tough choice picking a winner, but it’s a big congratulations to Sue Grover – your lovely words about our presenters really made us smile!
Winter’s arrived and the sun hides its face,
While glistening frost and snow takes its place. But I’m warm and cosy in my craft room of dreams, Surrounded by goodies in pinks blues ‘n’ creams.
Tattered Lace dies too many to show,
Are hung from the walls so designs are on show. A plethora of Kanban from Keith fills the shelves, Delivered to me by his sweet Christmas elves.
Then of course pride of place is my new Gemini,
It’s big and it’s purple through which cutting dies fly. It’s not very gentle as it squashes so hard,
To make sure the design is cut from the card.
NEW POEM Challenge
Write us a short ode featuring the words below relating to Create and Craft and we’ll publish our favourites in the next issue. We can’t wait to see what you come up with!

Meet the Member
We chatted to club member Hayley-Roxanna Banford about her crafting journey
What do you enjoy most about crafting?
I enjoy taking time out for me – taking a blank piece of card or some material and yarn,
and turning it into something that can be appreciated by myself or others in the future.
What has been your biggest
crafting success?
My first big crafting success was winning first prize in a competition for the cross stitch sampler I designed and made for my nephew Leo’s first birthday. I was also very proud of myself when I made my first sale after setting up my own business to sell my crafty items.
What do you love about Create
and Craft?
The best thing about Create and Craft
is that you introduced me to the Brother ScanNCut. This amazing machine has expanded my crafting ability and given me a completely new lease of creative life.
I never tire of watching the demonstrations ofitbyJoandMel.
NATION
I love Create and Craft, I watch it night and day,
Martyn, Andy, Dan and the lovely Nigel May.
Gentle Loen the craft lover and sweet Dean brings the sun, The Create and Craft Crew seem to have great fun.
Matt, Charlie, Dave the new kids on the block,
The guest demonstrators make it a great flock.
Great bargains, products and inspiration to share,
Thank you Create and Craft we feel that you care.
Each card we make is made with love, As if the sun shines from above.
A gentle breeze adds such delight, Bringing creativity, even in the night.
As all crafters know it’s art and a treat,
Making cards and pressies for loved ones so sweet. So now you know what’s in our hearts,
I suppose I’d better go and make a start.
Hayley-Roxanna’s biggest inspiration is her six-year-old niece, Tamsin

We want to hear from you!
How long have you been crafting for?
I remember being taught basic cross
stitch when I was about five years old by my Nanna Dot, and at 10 years old I was taught counted cross stitch by my teacher, Mrs Naylor. I started card making in my mid-teens and haven’t sent a shop-bought card in 20 years! From there, I also started scrapbooking and making other items from
card, such as gift tags and decorations. Knitting and crochet are more recent
additions to my crafting skills, as I only taught myself about six years ago.
Where do you get your crafting inspiration from?
Sometimes I am inspired by things I see
online or in magazines. Other times, I
am inspired by something I see when I’m out and about. But my favourite source
of inspiration is my creative six-year-old niece, Tamsin. She is always coming up with crafty ways of using things that would have never occurred to me.
