These adorable chicks make for a brilliant Easter project, but Helen’s whimsical ScanNCut cards can be adapted to any season with a quick change
of the colours and motifs. Each make features a different technique and skill level, so there is truly something for everyone to try!

1Resize shape BA-AO12 from the ScanNCut’s stored images to 4.75” x 6.75” and cut from yellow gingham card. Resize again to 4.5” x 6.5” and cut from white card. Resize again to 4.75”
2x 1” and cut from the gingham card. Rotate stored image shape BA-AO66 90 degrees, resize to 2.7” x 4.8” and
cut from blue card and acetate. Add shape BA-AO65, rotate 90 degrees and resize to 3.75” x 5.75”. Select both images and centralise horizontally and vertically. Cut from the gingham card.
3Resize stored image shape BA-AO98 to 0.41” x 0.5” and cut five times from the pastel colours. Using font FO-A001, write the sentiment Happy Easter, resize to 0.34” x 2.8” and using the universal pen holder write it on the parchment with orange fine liner pen. Cut out the sentiment using shape BA-AO12 resized to 0.75” x 6”.
Resize stored image shape AR-I107
BA-AO12 and resize to 5.5” x 5.5”. Centralise the two images vertically and horizontally and cut out from yellow card.
Add stored image AR-I1O7 and delete
the chick, beak and eyes. Resize the eggshell to 2.28” x 2.93” and cut out from white card.Using the splatter brush, add splats of white, yellow and orange paint to the yellow and white squares.

to 2.25” x 2.49”. Ungroup the image but do not move any of the parts. Duplicate the eggshell and then weld the original parts together. Cut the welded piece out from the yellow card and the extra eggshell out from white card. Ink the edges of the chick with the distress oxide and blending tool. Attach the extra eggshell to the chick with 3D foam tape. Cut stored image BA-AO33 measuring 0.4” x 0.2” from orange card and attach to the chick’s face. Add googly eyes.
Using foam tape, stick the white
rectangle to the gingham rectangle. With bookbinding glue, stick the gingham strip to the centre of the white card. Stick the gingham frame to the acetate. Add foam tape around the edges of the acetate, then add the sequins and the mini eggs to the centre. To create the shaker, stick the blue card to the foam tape. Glue this onto the topper.
Wrap the baker’s twine around the card
yellow card. Stick yellow and white yarn to the tape and cross it over the cut out silhouette several times. Using foam tape, stick the yellow square to the white card and stick the eggshell to the front of the card as shown. Wrap yellow yarn and baker’s twine around the front of the topper, sticking it to the back of the white card with red liner tape. Attach the topper to the card blank with foam tape.

When creating the silhouette card, make sure the pieces of yarn are very taut when you stick them to the back of the card.
Ensure there are no gaps when you stick the foam tape around the acetate of your shaker card, otherwise the sequins and eggs will fall out when the card is shaken.
To centre a sentiment on the ScanNCut, add the words and then add the rectangle you’ll use to cut out the sentiment. Centralise horizontally and vertically and save on your machine.
