How Fine Arts Karate Works
Hard work has its rewards
We have found over the years that some students will work just
because music and dance are fun but others need a boost. A
reward system can really help. Therefore, we have taken the
sport of karate and expanded on it. Each instructor may have
their own variation on what it takes to get a reward, however
here is an example of how it works.
Violin student Jane Smith signs up for the karate game. She
gets her name on a tag with Velcro to move from color to color.
Each week when she comes to her lesson, the instructor
rewards for diligent and careful practice by giving her a new
karate belt and allowing her to move one space on the board.
Also, when she masters a piece of music well, the instructor
may also allow her to move forward on the board an additional
space. If she has not been able to practice
effectively, she does not get a belt and get to
move on the board that week but can to do so
the following week. Each time she receives a
black belt, she gets a prize.
If she goes around 5 times, she reaches the
Hall of Fame. At the Hall of Fame, she gets a
larger prize.
Here is a picture of what our karate board
looks like. The Hall of Fame is a separate
board that will
be displayed at the Fine Arts Festival at the end
of the year.
