Besides, with almost 49% of female athletes, Tokyo 2020 will be the most gender- balanced Olympic Games ever.

How sustainable will the Tokyo 2020 be?
Tokyo 2020 is embracing the entire concept of “sustainability” in its preparations for the Games, covering not only environmental issues, but also the consideration of human rights, working conditions and practices, and the management of supply chains. Tokyo 2020 has made sustainability one of its overriding priorities and will include sustainability in all aspects of the Olympic and Paralympic Games Tokyo 2020. Apart from these, medals to be awarded to athletes at the Olympic and Paralympic Games Tokyo 2020 will be produced using the metal contained in discarded and obsolete electronic devices, such as smartphones, digital cameras, handheld games and laptops.
Will Tokyo 2020 be ready?
During recent visits in Japan, IOC President declared: “I cannot remember any Olympic city being so advanced as Tokyo is, two years before the Games. This applies to every aspect of the organisation of the Games. We see the facilities being delivered, and the volunteer programme making wonderful progress. We see the great engagement of the business community, and the great engagement of the people and of those in the devastated areas, particularly Fukushima.”
The Olympic Games Tokyo 2020 will see baseball and softball competitions hosted in Fukushima's Azuma Stadium, with football played at nearby Miyagi Stadium, also in the stricken region. The decision taken by the IOC in consultation with the Japanese government was aimed at supporting the recovery in the region.
