Tokyo 2020
What are some examples of legacy projects for Tokyo 2020?
Legacy projects include for example:
• renovation of the Tokyo Olympic Stadium;
• sports complexes including Olympic Stadium Park Precinct and
the Musashino Forest Cluster;
• the creation of the “Tokyo athletes circle”, where athletes share their experiences
with the local community;
• new programmes to increase sports participation by people with disabilities
• Education of youth through sport and the Olympic values.
In line with the IOC and with some other Olympic Games Organising Committees, Tokyo 2020 is implementing the ISO 20121 Event Sustainability System. First audit is planned for mid-2019 with certification expected at the end of the year.

With 56 per cent of the venues utilising existing facilities, Tokyo
2020 has embraced Olympic Agenda 2020 to create a sustainable legacy for the city of Tokyo and Japan, while minimising construction costs.
