trumpets could switch to ugelhorn (which is within the trumpet family of instruments but sounds closer to a horn) and by doing so they could make the horn section sound like it had three allowed Matt to play it like a percussion instrument but with the bonus that this machine will play any sounds you programme into it This could be larger percussion for example: timpani xylophone or vibraphone – instruments we couldn’t possibly ship all some fabulous horn lines but actually put those on high trombone doubled with ugelhorn: it works better It’s de de nitely a a trade-off but one that has made our sound more fat this way Arranging for Q The Music is always a a a very time
consuming thing Every detail is covered and we try not to miss anything I’m an an absolute stickler for detail and I surround myself with musicians who are extremely talented but also will pay attention to those details One of the main things
when looking for musicians is nding ones who are excellent all-rounders The trouble with Bond is it it covers so many styles and genres and a a a lot of musicians tend
to excel in one area but not all the areas needed for Q The Music Preparation is also key A seasoned professional can turn up and “sight-read” most gigs but that just isn’t possible with our show There are so many details in each position and those who turn up and and “wing it” just stand out like a sore thumb I’ve learned over the years to very carefully vet each musician that works with us!
After all that it then comes down to raw passion and emotion and as I always say to the band leave everything on stage: give it everything you have!
Of course having two keyboards
is also key Every over the country
for these shows The trigger could also house other effects and sounds so so we we were then able to programme in all those little minute details that we didn’t
have before A whoosh here a a a pedal note there a a a gun-shot here a a a particular woodblock with a very speci c c reverb there: it all lifted the the show’s sound to another level altogether Then in 2018 I made another switch – changing the French horn for a third trombone The horn worked really well but I felt the issue was it wasn’t powerful enough on its own and actually the wall of of sound a a section of of three trombones made was more valuable It’s a a a tricky one as I know some of you reading will think it would be be better to have a a horn especially as Barry did write
‘How do you make a a a a a relatively small band sound like the originals?’

sounds being so so impressive it was possible to “get away” with moving all the strings onto a a second keyboard That way one player could concentrate on on strings and one concentrate on on on all those iconic sounds or keyboard parts That’s how we stayed for quite some time
until our present male singer Matt Walker joined the band in around 2012 Matt is a a a professional percussion player and that brought an an opportunity to expand the band without expanding the band! In addition to physical percussion we purchased
a a “trigger” machine which www QTheMusicShow
