Hansel and Gretel: A twisted fairy tale
Once upon a time in a dark, dark wood
Lived two children in desperate need of pud.
Hansel & Gretel was their name.
And little did they know, they’d find such fame.
Their parents were mean and not very nice.
The children were thin and riddled with lice.
They knew they had to find a decent meal
So, they ventured out in a cart, minus a wheel.
The weather was unkind and blowing a gale.
Fearing they’d get lost; they scattered a trail.
Soon they stumbled on a sweet gingerbread house, Owned by a witch, her cat and a menacing mouse. “Come on in my dears” the witch did hiss
And stupidly they went, thinking they’d be missed.
In a blink of an eye they were locked in a cage
As they witnessed the witch fly into a terrible rage.
They prayed for rescue by a passing woodcutter
Not realising they’d been captured by an absolute nutter. No rescue came as the cooking pot boiled.
And poor Hansel & Gretel were flambéd and broiled.
