What have we celebrated? (1o y 2o Ed. Primaria)
Our children love learning English and the best way to do it is by giving them opportunities to deepen their knowledge about English culture.
In the first term we found out amazing facts about English speaking countries celebrations.
In November we celebrated the most famous American and Canadian celebration: Thanksgiving Day.
Our native teachers prepared interactive activities and read us a story about how Americans celebrate it. In the United States Thanksgiving is celebrated on the fourth Thursday of November and in Canada it occurs on the second Monday of October.
Thanksgiving was originally a holiday to give thanks to God for the harvest. This day is an opportunity to thank God for all the blessings they received during the year by feasting and praying. It is also a day to appreciate and spend time with their family. So, for this reason we took the opportunity to give thanks for different things by drawing our hands and writing a special message on them.
Finally, we celebrated Christmas, perhaps the most magical and special time of the year for children.
We had a great week by playing games, learning specific vocabulary and singing Christmas carols. In the final class, we made our own handmade Christmas card for friends and family.
