MAKING IT TO THE END OF THE MONTH
The experience of being debt free relieves us of the stress of repayments (plus the interest!) to banks and lenders. The financial freedom that this situation provides allows us to make a difference in the grander scheme of things. When we have debts, the lender has some element of control over us, and we are in ‘bondage’ to them by the fact that we owe them money. The greater the number of debts we have, the greater the control lenders have over our financial position since we will always feel that we don’t have enough of something to make positive steps towards a truly generous heart.
Sometimes, the ‘something’ is money, sometimes it is time or the belief that we cannot make a difference. I’m sure we have all had the ‘I would love to ... but I can’t afford it’ type of conversations with ourselves. For example:
“I would love to get married, but I can’t afford it.”
“I would love to start a family, but can I afford it?”
“I would like to purchase my first house rather than rent ...”
“I would love to help someone else ...”
“I would love to work fewer hours and do something different ...”
