Speaking and Listening Checklists
Speaking and Listening Checklists (Informal Assessment)
These four checklists are useful tools to measure student progress during informal assessment of speaking and listening skills and are organized according to the standards addressed. Each checklist is specific to a speaking and listening activity in which students might be participating. Teaching notes in module lessons suggest when these checklists might be used. Use your assessment to guide students in where and how they can improve.
Have students store their informal checklists in their Track Progress folders, keeping them organized and giving them easy access to information on how they are progressing across the year.
To assess student progress, prepare one checklist for each student. For each criterion, circle the appropriate number using the following key:
To use the checklist to gather evidence across multiple discussions, use a di erent color of ink to mark your observations for each discussion.
