Lesson 9: Readers Theater: Performing Our Scripts
CCS Standards
■ RF.2.4: Read with su cient accuracy and  uency to support comprehension.
■ SL.2.1: Participate in collaborative conversations with diverse partners about grade 2 topics
and texts with peers and adults in small and larger groups.
■ SL.2.1a: Follow agreed-upon rules for discussions (e.g., gaining the  oor in respectful ways, lis- tening to others with care, speaking one at a time about the topics and texts under discussion).
■ SL.2.1b: Build on others’ talk in conversations by linking their comments to the remarks of others.
■ SL.2.1c: Ask for clari cation and further explanation as needed about the topics and texts under discussion.

Purpose of lesson and alignment to standards:

This is the  nal lesson in Unit 2, and it culminates in students’ Readers Theater performanc- es. The performances help students revisit the learning they have done about communities around the world that  nd solutions to their problems to get students to school.
In the Closing, students participate in the routine of re ecting on and assessing their learn- ing at the end of a unit. While self-assessing, students focus on the content of this unit to see if their ideas about school have developed or changed.
