• Introduces the text by  ating the title, pages, and author
• Clearly  ates the themes or main ideas (the main points or messages related to the real world that the author wants you to under and and take away)
• Includes the mo  important details, quoted accurately where appropriate, to support the theme or each main idea presented
• Literary Texts: Includes how characters in a  ory respond to challenges or how the speaker in a poem re ects upon a topic
• Concise; includes only the mo  important ideas and details
• Wraps up with a concluding  atement
• Takes a di erent form based on the  ructure of the text
• Written in complete sentences that have a subject and predicate
