REMOTE
LEARNING
Though Gulliver’s campuses were forced to close amidst a global pandemic, the learning continued as our school shifted to remote learning.
Early on, we received positive feedback from our families, and worked to build on those successes to refine and improve our remote learning model in the weeks ahead. Even as we practiced social distancing and were physically apart, we remained focused on nurturing and sustaining our community and continuing to provide a personal touch.
The spring months are always marked with a flurry of activities, including schoolwide celebrations like Spirit Week and Teacher Appreciation Week. For the first time, we held a Virtual Spirit Week as students celebrated from home by sharing their themed photos and videos online. Teacher Appreciation Week was even more special this year, as we recognized the extraordinary efforts and work of our faculty and staff in the transition to remote learning.
2019-20 Year in Review
In an effort led by the Parents’ Association and in lieu of traditional luncheons and celebrations, our community raised more than $88,000 for the Teacher and Staff Appreciation Fund.
The Class of 2020 saw a truly unprecedented end to senior year, unable to spend their last days of high school with classmates, attend Prom, celebrate Senior Send-Off, or graduate in a traditional ceremony. While nothing can replace these missed moments, our seniors were able to celebrate with their families and each other with a car parade celebration through campus, and a one-of-a-kind commencement ceremony at Hard Rock Stadium.
We were hopeful we could return to campus to close the academic year and hold our annual end-of-year activities and celebrations, but as we know, that was not our reality. From awards ceremonies and honor society inductions, to drive-through car parades and classroom and department presentations, while these events looked different this year, their true purpose - celebrating and honoring student achievements and milestones – was fulfilled.
