LL Cool J, Gwen Stefani join in CBS foster-adoption special
LOS ANGELES (AP) — LL Cool J is host of a TV special that has long spot- lighted adoption for kids in foster care.
CBS’ “A Home for the Holidays” is marking its 20th year of sharing stories about children who found or need perma- nent homes.
Gwen Stefani, Train and Lukas Gra- ham will perform on the program airing
at 8 p.m. Eastern on December 21. A tree-lighting ceremony with a performance by Andy Grammer is part of the special, CBS said Monday.
“A Home for the Holidays” showcases youngsters who were featured on the show and found “forever families,” and profiles of children hoping for one. There are more than 400,000 U.S. children in foster care.
The special is presented in association with the Dave Thomas Foundation for Adoption and the Children’s Action Net- work.
Sales for Michelle Obama memoir top 2 million copies
NEW YORK (AP) — Michelle Obama’s “Becoming” is selling at a pace rarely seen for a political memoir, or any nonfiction book.
Combined hardcover, e-book and audio sales in the U.S. and Canada topped 2 mil- lion copies in the first 15 days, Crown Pub- lishing announced Friday. By comparison, former first lady Hillary Rodham Clinton’s memoir “Living History” needed a month to sell 1 million copies. Former President
George W. Bush’s “Decision Points” took several weeks to reach 2 million. Former President Bill Clinton’s “My Life” quickly sold 1 million copies but took far longer to hit 2 million.
“Becoming,” which came out Nov. 13, now has 3.4 million hardcover copies in print. The former first lady is in the midst of a promotional tour, with guests includ- ing Oprah Winfrey and Reese Wither- spoon.
