Descendants of Hector Finlayson & 1st Wife Lisette Lucier (Métis) Rainey Jonasson - Gaywish Photo of the d’Arcis family from 1928 at Washow Bay on Lake Winnipeg. James Louis d’Arcis Jr (sitting with son on lap) was the grandson of Hector Finlayson and his first wife Lisette Lucier. His parents were James L. d’Arcis Sr. and Ann “Nancy” Smith, nee Finlayson, d/o Hector and Lisette. This was Nancy’s third marriage. She was first married to a William Sanderson (no children, he died shortly after they married in 1860), and then to a Eugene Smith in 1862. Not sure if they had children. He must have died or abandoned her by 1882 when she then married James L. d’Arcis Sr. Their son, James L. d’Arcis Jr. married Maria Stevenson from the St. Peters band (pictured sitting next to James). I have been in contact since 2006 with Rainey Jonasson - Gaywish, the granddaughter of James and Maria. Her mother, Sarah or “Sadie” is in this photo standing second from the right.
