he 74th Independence Day of India was celebrated in Sao Paulo on August 15,
2020, Saturday. The main event, organized by the Indian Con- sulate in Sao Paulo was held at the Swami Vivekanand Cultur- al Centre (SVCC). Broadcast live on the Facebook pages of the consulate and the cultur- al center, the event was joined online by a large number of members of Indian community in Brazil as well as local people.
The event started with the hoisting of the national flag by the Consul General at the cul- tural centre auditorium in the presence of consulate officials and SVCC staff. It was followed by the national anthem.

The cultural programme began with a beautiful rendi- tion of the national song, Vande Mataram, by Mrs Ratnabali Adhikari, a well-known musi- cian based in Sao Paulo for a long time. The national song was followed by the singing of the four extra stanzas of the na- tional anthem by Arindam Bose and Soumya Mondal, who exe- cuted it perfectly. Then
