55th Anniversary
The Austin Capital City Lions Club was among the first in District 2-S3 to sponsor a Lioness Club which was an affiliate of the Lions Club. The former Capital City Lioness Club became a Lions Club and is now known as the Austin Capital City Evening Lions Club.
Our members have attended Zone Meetings, District Meetings, Mid-Winter Conferences, State Conventions, and International Conventions. Many of our members have been very active and have served as zone and district officers, convention chairs, and on various district committees.
Over the past fifty years, two District Governors for District 2-S3 have been members of the Austin Capital City Lions Club. They are G. W. McConico (1990-1991) and Melvin J. Chambers (1995-1996). Our current president is David A. Bell, who is currently serving in his second term. The Austin Capital City Lions Club continues to be a strong and vibrant organization following our Lion’s motto “We Serve.”
