Morene Douglas 1924—2021
Morene was born in Cameron, Texas to Mabel and Charlie Turner. She married her husband Marvin H. Douglas of 75 years on December 12, 1945. The union produced two daughters, Brenda (Crenshaw) and Marva (Doss).
Morene served as the Coordinator of the East Austin YMCA, an insurance agent for Universal Life Insurance, an administrator for Austin Housing Authority, and a teacher.
She was actively involved in Delta Sigma Theta, The Grand Slam, Ace Trey Bridge Club, Les Hirrondels, and the OJT and HTU alumni associations. She was a member of Jack and Jill, Inc.
She is survived by her husband Lion Marvin Douglas, daughters Brenda (Charles) and Marva, four grandchildren: Jamar (Azalea), Baryl, Jauroy (Lea), and James, and 3 great-grandchildren: Kameron, Skyller, and Autumn.
