to a reliable, high-quality drinking water source for generations to come.
With our business-friendly climate, Greenwood has a wealth of opportunities for job seekers and entrepreneurs alike. Greenwood County’s employment numbers have steadily increased each year. The county continues to
draw and retain people, as individuals and the companies that employ them continue to move to Greenwood due to our climate, our friendly atmosphere and commitment to business development.
Ascend Performance Materials has proudly operated in Greenwood since 1961, and they are proud that their local site is the company’s Fiber Center of Excellence. The polymers and fibers they make here at their plant go into products that make a real difference in people’s lives – tire cords, air bags, military uniforms, textiles. It’s all possible because of our people – people who care about this community and are passionate about seeing it thrive. APM is honored to be able to give back through their volunteer efforts with the Ascend Cares Foundation and to bring more jobs to the area through their recent expansions. Enviva is a leading global energy company specializing
in sustainable wood biomass. They are the world’s largest producer of wood pellets, which provide sustainable,
low carbon heat and power, replacing fossil fuels. Enviva owns and operates seven manufacturing plants in five states – South Carolina, Virginia, North Carolina, Florida and Mississippi – and they are currently constructing an eighth manufacturing plant in Hamlet, North Carolina. Enviva exports their pellets primarily through deep-water marine terminals in Virginia, North Carolina, Alabama and
