 The hospital closed its former Wellness Works facility and encouraged members to transfer their health memberships to the YMCA, which included use of
the YMCA’s swimming pool. Self Regional made a significant corporate investment to upgrade the YMCA’s fitness center, which included new equipment, locker room enhancements and aesthetic upgrades, thus providing more value to YMCA members.
“This new relationship between our organizations
is similar to those between YMCA’s and hospitals all across the country: as two key stakeholders in the health and wellness of this community, it only makes sense that we find innovative ways to cooperate as we strive to improve the health in our region,” said hospital CEO Jim Pfeiffer.
For the 11th year in a row, Greenwood Regional Rehabilitation Hospital has been acknowledged for providing nationally recognized rehabilitative care
to its patients. The hospital was ranked in the Top
10% of inpatient rehabilitation facilities nationwide
for providing care that is patient-centered, effective, efficient and timely. The hospital was ranked from among 781 inpatient rehabilitation facilities nationwide by the Uniform Data System for Medical Rehabilitation (UDSMR). The UDSMR is a non-profit corporation that was developed with support from the U.S. Department of Education, National Institute on Disability and Rehabilitation Research. UDSMR maintains the world’s
largest database for medical rehabilitation outcomes. Greenwood Regional Rehabilitation Hospital provides specialized rehabilitative services to patients who are recovering from disabilities caused by injuries, illnesses, or chronic medical conditions. This includes strokes, brain injuries, spinal cord injuries, and amputations, along with illnesses such as cerebral palsy, ALS (Lou Gehrig’s Disease), multiple sclerosis and Parkinson’s disease.
The Greenwood Genetic Center Foundation
is a nonprofit 501(c)3 established to serve as the philanthropic arm supporting the Greenwood Genetic Center (GGC) in their work of serving families in
the fight against genetic diseases, birth defects and autism. GGC has provided 40 years of compassionate clinical care, unparalleled diagnostic lab services, globally-renowned research discoveries and innovative educational programs. Through four decades of dramatic technological advances, the era of genetic therapeutics is upon us - GGC is poised to be at the forefront of this exciting time, where the hopes of yesterday are becoming the realities of today. The Greenwood Genetic Center Foundation and the philanthropic friends who support its work are the very lifeline for advancing these hopes. As a part of the South Carolina Department of
Mental Health, The Beckman Center has provided patient centered mental health care to the Lakelands Area since 1963. Residents of Abbeville, Edgefield, Greenwood, Laurens, McCormick, Newberry and Saluda Counties access services (same day access
for psychiatric emergencies) through six clinics and collocated sites such as schools, hospital ERs, and primary care offices. Approximately 4,700 patients are
