is a unique community that includes the City of Greenwood, the largest city in the county, and four other communities including the towns of Ninety-Six, Hodges, Troy and Ware Shoals.
The Teijin Carbon Fibers, Inc. plant in Greenwood, SC
In 2019-2020, five economic development projects were announced in Greenwood County that will create 101 new jobs and $78.5 million in capital investment, including expansions by VELUX, Eaton Corporation, and Eddy Carolina Pride. During the same period, three manufacturing buildings were filled bringing in two new companies - Power Pool Plus and U.S. Biomass, LLC.
The Teijin Group is expanding globally and broke ground on June 4th, 2018 of its wholly-owned subsidiary Teijin Carbon Fibers, Inc. (TCF). This $600 million carbon fiber production facility in Greenwood, S.C. is expected to create more than 200 jobs and now fully operational. The Teijin facility is the largest initial capital investment by a company in the history of Greenwood County and was the largest single investment made in the State of South Carolina in
