the Uniform Data System for Medical Rehabilitation (UDSMR). The UDSMR
is a non-profit corporation that was developed with support from the U.S. Department of Education, National Institute on Disability and Rehabilitation Research. UDSMR maintains the
world’s largest database for medical rehabilitation outcomes. Greenwood Regional Rehabilitation Hospital provides specialized rehabilitative services
to patients who are recovering from disabilities caused by injuries, illnesses,
or chronic medical conditions. This includes strokes, brain injuries, spinal cord injuries, and amputations, along with illnesses such as cerebral palsy, ALS (Lou Gehrig’s Disease), multiple sclerosis and Parkinson’s disease.
Ronnie Cannady’s Recovery Story
Greenwood Regional Rehabilitation Hospital provides intensive rehabilitation services to people recovering from disabling diseases or injuries, such as strokes, brain, spinal cord and orthopedic injuries. Their efforts have them ranked in the Top 10% nationally for rehabilitative care, allowing them to provide the highest level of available care to patients in their communities.
 When Ronnie Cannady began to
experience weakness in his arms and legs, he feared he might be having another stroke similar to the one he suffered 5 years ago. Upon further evaluation, Mr. Cannady was relieved when he was told he hadn’t suffered a stroke, but equally discouraged when he received a diagnosis of severe Lumbosacral Disease (a narrowing of the spinal canal which results in compression of the spinal nerve roots).
Unfortunately, Mr. Cannady’s weakness continued to progress until he was unable to walk. Spending time with family and enjoying hobbies like fishing had become impossibilities. As a result of his condition, he was admitted to
