a local hospital for further evaluation. During his inpatient hospitalization, the physician regrettably informed him
that surgery was not an option and recommended intense rehabilitation as an alternative for recovery.
After several days in the acute hospital, Mr. Cannady was transferred to
Greenwood Regional Rehabilitation Hospital to begin his journey toward recovery. After daily physical and occupational therapy sessions, he regained his strength and ability to walk and care for himself again. “I don’t remember being this bad off after I had my stroke,” Mr. Cannady recalled. “Even when I felt down and out, the nurses, doctors and therapists refused to let me think that way.”
Once Mr. Cannady had completed his therapy and
had successfully met his goals with Greenwood Regional Rehabilitation Hospital, his attention turned toward spending time with family. He was hopeful and optimistic in making that first cast after his new lease on life.

lives of so, so many. Over the past year there have been many new and expanding medical facilities including expansions at Self Regional Healthcare, the new Wesley Commons Rehabilitation Center and many more.
The recent Health and Rehabilitation Center
at Wesley Commons offers the highest quality of inpatient rehabilitation and skilled nursing care available. This 80-bed all private room – healthcare center was
designed with personal care amenities and a hospitality focus, rather than a conventional medical model. This innovative concept will result in a center focused on
the whole patient, taking into account their physical environment, their emotional well-being, as well as their spiritual health. The Health and Rehabilitation Center
is certified by Medicare and Medicaid and offers 24-
hour professional licensed skilled nursing care. Wesley Commons provides a variety of health services, including assisted living, intermediate and skilled nursing care, specialized care for Alzheimer’s and dementia, as well as critical therapy programs. HEALTHCARE SPECIALTIES
As a part of the South Carolina Department of Mental Health, The Beckman Center has provided patient centered mental health care to the Lakelands Area since 1963. Residents of Abbeville, Edgefield, Greenwood, Laurens, McCormick, Newberry and Saluda Counties access services (same day access for psychiatric emergencies) through six clinics and collocated sites such as schools, hospital ERs, and primary care offices. Approximately 5,400 patients are seen annually by a staff of 100 including physicians, nurses and therapists supported by administrative personnel who promote their vision “to empower people to live healthy and
