Congratulations Hōkū Awardees Kylee Chan and Tiffany Harada, Administration
In addition to demonstrating specific designated criterion, Hōkū Award
winners excel in overall job performance; comply with all AH Castle policies and procedures; and demonstrate dedication and commitment to AH Castle’s Mission, Vision, and Values. Congratulations to Kylee Chan and Tiffany Harada, Administration, who were honored with Hōkū Awards in September. In nominating Kylee and Tiffany the Senior Executive team wrote:
There are people in this world that seem to shine so bright, so bright they are blinding. Then, there are some people that don’t try to shine. They don't need the spotlight. They just serve others every single day, in such a meaningful way that they can't help but twinkle, just like a star.
• To the ignorant, stars are small and fickle.
• In reality they are immense, powerful, and have their own center of gravity.
• They affect the course of things around them, and throughout history humanity has relied on them.
• Stars are there to guide us, to help us find our way.
• Stars are there to remind us that even the smallest light can do the greatest good.
The Great ShakeOut earthquake drill
by Richard Kirchner, Director of Facilities
Our Adventist Health communities are experiencing emergency management events like never before. From the Covid-19 pandemic to hurricanes and wildfires, we have tirelessly activated incident command centers across the system, to coordinate our response to best serve our patients, associates and communities.
Unlike other natural disasters, earthquakes can strike without any warning. That’s why it’s important to practice how to protect ourselves within seconds of feeling the ground shaking.

Kylee and Tiffany: You are our stars. You are our Hōkū's.
Each one of us can go through a long list of ways you supported us individually, and even further with a list of how we witnessed you support someone else. From handling difficult people with tact, advocating for an associate, caring for a patient, wiping down something for the 100th time, opening my door, you have done it all. With love. With courage. With selflessness.
We celebrate you both and all the amazing work you do. Keep shining in your own special way. Know that your light has brightened up our lives and we know there is so much more to see.

The Great ShakeOut is a nationwide drill to help participants practice how to respond to an earthquake. Adventist Health Castle is holding our Great ShakeOut drill on October 15 at 10:15 a.m. Please review the facility earthquake policy in Lucidoc.
In the coming days, you will see an appointment request to attend our earthquake drill. Please join us on October 15. We will practice the “drop, cover and hold on” exercise to keep us safe during an earthquake.
There will be a photo contest. We ask that each department submit no more than five photos of their physically distanced “drop, cover, and hold on” exercise. Emergency management in Roseville will judge the photos and a prize will be provided to the department with the best photos. If you have any questions, please contact me at 263-5201 or email me at KirchnR1@ah.org.
