Castle Live with Michael W. Perry
Master communicator and Adventist Health Castle Governing Board member Michael W. Perry took time to talk with leaders at the Castle Leadership Institute during a Castle Live segment.
Perry spent 11 years as Hawai‘i’s number one afternoon radio personality before teaming up with Larry Price for 34 years on
the Perry and Price Show on KSSK. Today, Michael W. Perry and
The Posse is not only the #1 radio show in Hawai‘i but is currently number one in market share for morning radio shows nationwide. Perry devotes much of his time to local charities and organizations such as Adventist Health Castle, The Sony Open and The Pacific Aviation Museum, and is Chairman of the Board of Directors for two local foundations.
During the interview, Perry shared that good communication takes being true to oneself, listening to the feedback people give you and realizing you don’t know everything. When asked, he said he agreed to be on Castle’s Governing Board because he lived on the Windward side for the last 40 years and felt like a part of the hospital since
his children, grandchildren and nieces and nephews were all born at Castle’s birthing center.
Perry encouraged leaders to tell the story of Castle and talk about its services and community events like wellness seminars and the I Love Kailua Town Party. That kind of outreach is what makes Castle a leader in the community Perry said.
“That's exactly what Castle should be doing because we're the leader on the Windward side whether you know it or not,” Perry said. “People look to Castle as...one of the anchors that we have in our lives.”
Perry is married, has three children, 10 grandchildren, and lives in Kailua.
