The Kingbirds (Cassin’s and Western) are birds of the summer, not appearing until April. Eastern Kingbird, which is quite rare in this area, has been seen in the yard.
Woodhouse’s Scrub-Jay, Pyrrhuloxia, Ruby-crowned Kinglet, White-breasted Nuthatch, and Red-naped Sapsucker are all more likely to be seen during the cooler months than in the warmer ones.
Phainopepla is seen through the year, feasting on berries of mistletoe and Mexican Elder.
Pine Siskins are prevalent during the cooler weather but absent during most of June.
Hooded and Bullock’s Orioles appear in numers by April, and Scott’s has been present during April and May.
Say’s Phoebe can be quite regular throughout the period, as can American Robin.
