Poland improves trade conditions with Ukraine. The Polish Government has decided to expand risk insurance opportunities in bilateral trade with Ukraine, announced the Ukraine Ministry of Economy. Insurance guarantees will be provided through the Polish State Export Credit Insurance Corporation (KUKE). By the end of the year, it will be able to offer increased an credit limit of PLN 500M. The company provides the opportunity to insure the risk of non-repayment of receivables in export contracts of Polish producers with Ukrainian counterparties. Polish importers currently receive state guarantees to cover the risks of non-payment by Ukrainian buyers of products supplied. The insurance covers contracts for the supply of products included in the list of critical imports.
Access to the EU market will help cover the trade losses due to hostilities. Ukrainian goods' access to the EU market will help compensate for the losses suffered by the Ukrainian economy due to the war and the Russian blockade of Ukrainian ports, stated the Minister of Economy, Yulia Svyridenko. She added that she expects that zero customs rates on Ukrainian goods will be maintained not only for a year but longer into the future. As a reminder, Ukraine has recently signed an agreement with several EU countries to abolish customs rates for one year.
Grain exports by land and rivers may amount to 50% of pre-war level volume. With the effective interaction of domestic and foreign logistics, the volume of grain exports from Ukraine by land and river can be increased to 2.5mn tons. This is nearly 50% of the total pre-war export volume, said Deputy Chairman of the All-Ukrainian Agrarian Council Denis Marchuk. For example, Ukraine exported about 200,000 tons of grain by land and river in March. In May, under new conditions, Ukrainian farmers shipped 1.74mn tons. It is possible that the work of agricultural, transport, and customs infrastructures will continue in the future. In that case, Marchuk said the total volume of exports by land and river corridors could be increased to 50% of the entire pre-war export volume, which amounted to about fivemn tons.
Export of milk and condensed cream has increased by 44%. In May this year, total exports of milk and condensed cream amounted to 187,000 tons, which is 44% more than in April and 7% less than in the same period last year, as reported by the Ukrainian Agrarian Business Club (UCAB). The largest importers of milk in May were: Poland with 490 tons and the Netherlands with 300 tons. It is noted that 780 tons of butter were also exported in May, which is 59% more than in the previous month and 8% more than last year. This dairy product was exported mainly to Moldova - 260 tons, Poland - 240 tons, and the Netherlands - 120 tons.
EU has launched an online platform to support Ukrainian exports. The European Commission officially launched the EU-Ukraine business matchmaking platform this week. This platform is based on the European Enterprise Network (EEN), which is designed to assist small and medium enterprises with international aspirations. The new platform aims to establish business contacts and simplify logistics operations to export and import goods to and from Ukraine. Interested parties can register for free on the site, publish their profiles and search for relevant business partners and opportunities to implement their export proposals.
