Russian billionaire Mints sues embattled Ananyev bankers
Non-state pension funds (NPFs) controlled by Russian billionaire Boris Mints are suing Promsvyazcapital controlled by embattled banker Dimitri Ananyev for RUB3.9bn ($63mn), Vedomosti daily reported on July 30 citing court materials.
Reportedly the claimants are NPFs Budushee, Telecom-Soyuz, Obrazo- vanie and Socialnoye Razvitie, but the nature of the claims against for- mer owners of bailed Russian PromSvyazBank (PSB) was not disclosed.
In 2017 the Central Bank of Russia (CBR) took over one of the largest Russia's private banks PSB controlled by Dimitri and Alexei Ananyev, and ordered the Ananyevs to bring their controlling stakes in another bank Vozrozhdenie to below 10%.
In July Ananyevs had $15.6mn and €11mn worth of assets arrested by the High Court of Justice in London in the case initiated by wealthy PSB clients that invested in securities issued by the bank. The man- agement company Promsvyazcapital is currently being liquidated.
Romanian banks extended RON9.4bn (€2bn) new loans to households in Q2, which was 12% up y/y and a new record for the local market, ac- cording to bne IntelliNews calculations based on central bank data.

The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) is providing a synthetic local currency loan worth $5mn to Uzbeki- stan’s DAVR Bank, the bank said in a statement on August 1.
It is the first EBRD loan to DAVR Bank, a privately owned financial institution in Uzbekistan established in 2001, with aims to expand access to finance for Uzbek micro, small and medium-sized enter- prises (MSMEs), the statement said.
The loan was signed as part of EBRD President Suma Chakrabarti’s two-day visit to the country after the EBRD reopened its office in Uzbekistan in November.
