The EU grain purchases from Russia jumped by 22% on the month and by 10 times on the year to 180,000 tonnes in September, hitting a record since March 2022 and making Russia EU’s 4th largest grain supplier in the month, Eurostat said on December 2. Ukraine was the top exporter of grain to the EU in the month with supplies rising by 1% on the month but plunging by 25% on the year to 1.2mn tonnes in September. Brazil ranked second with exports jumping by 80% on the month to 1.1mn tonnes, and Turkey was the third largest exporter with its supplies gaining 4% to 204,000 tonnes of grain.
The trade turnover between Russia and India reached almost $55bn in the period January-October 2023, Russian Ambassador to India Denis Alipov said at the plenary session of the XIV Indian-Russian Business Dialogue. "Russia has become one of India's main trading partners. We maintain leading positions in supplying hydrocarbon raw materials, providing over one-third of Indian imports of mineral fertilizers, agrobusiness products and [products from] the diamond mining industry," the ambassador added. Earlier, Alipov said that the trade turnover between Russia and India for the period January through September 2023 had reached a record $48.8bn. In 2022, the trade turnover between the two countries amounted to $39bn.
German exports to the CIS countries, excluding Russia, increased significantly in 2023. From January to October 2023, exports to these countries increased by 30% to €7.3B. At the same time, the supply of goods from Germany to the Russian Federation decreased by 39.1% to €7.6B. There is an assumption that many goods reach the Russian Federation through post-Soviet countries, bypassing sanctions. Among these countries, the largest part of German exports went to Kazakhstan: an increase of 32% to €2.8B. The supply of goods to Belarus increased even more, by 40.8% to €1.5B. Germany's trade with Kyrgyzstan increased by 180.1% to €591M. At the same time, the supply of goods to Uzbekistan decreased by 4.2% to €846M. The majority of the supply to the CIS countries comprised German cars and spare parts. In this area, exports increased by 65% to €2.1B. Other important export
