At least 13 Turkish firms exported a total of at least $18.5mn worth of items, including plastics, rubber items and vehicles, to at least 10 Russian companies sanctioned by the US for their role in Russia’s assault on Ukraine, the data show. The Turkish companies sent at least three shipments of American-made goods, according to the data reviewed by The Wall Street Journal. Turkish firms also sent another $15mn in American-made elevators, electric generators, circuit boards and other items to Russia in violation of US export controls designed to starve Russia of vital military equipment from March to October 2022, the data show.
Exports from Italy to Russia plummeted by 37% y/y in January 2023, the Italian National Institute of Statistics (Istat) said on Tuesday. In annual terms, Italy ramped up exports of goods and services to China by 137.5%, to Turkey by 46.9%, and to OPEC member-countries by 26.2%. Procurements in Russia lost 67.3%, Istat said. "The US (+35.1%), MERCOSUR countries (+30.1%) and OPEC countries (+23.8%)" saw the greatest growth in imports compared with the previous year, the Institute added. Italian imports declined for the fifth month in a row, driven in particular by "a drop in energy purchases," experts said.

Exports of oil and condensate from Russia to China in January exceeded 1.5mn barrels per day to hit a record high since April 2020, Bloomberg reported on February 23 citing analytical company Kpler. “Russia’s overall crude and fuel oil exports to China reached 1.66mn barrels a day last month, according to Kpler data as of February 20.
