Namibia: Global Petroleum announces agreement with NAMCOR to licence 3D seismic data
Global Petroleum has announced that it has come to an agreement to licence pre-existing 3D seismic data in its offshore Namibia Block, 2011A (PEL0094). This key data, acquired by previous licensees in 2010, covers the Company’s Welwitschia Deep prospect and Marula lead and will enable precise mapping of these features. Once this is complete, Global will update Pro- spective Resources and chances of success for Welwitschia Deep and Marula.
In consideration for the right to licence this data, Global has agreed to transfer to National Petroleum Corporation of Namibia (NAMCOR) a 7% participating interest in PEL0094. NAM- COR holds an existing 10% carried interest as required by the Namibian Government, and its total interest in PEL0094 will therefore be 17%, carried to first production.
Aloe Investments, a private Namibian com- pany, holds a 5% interest, carried through explo- ration. Global will therefore hold a working interest of 78% and will remain operator of the licence.
The 3D seismic survey covers an area of 1,583 square km, and being only 10 years old is con- sidered to be of relatively modern vintage. The vast majority of the survey is in PEL0094 (Block 2011A), with the remainder in Block 1911 to the north.
Details of the Prospective Resources for Wel- witschia Deep and Marula were set out in an announcement by the Company on November
26, 2019. The 2014 Welwitschia-1A well, which was drilled by previous licensees, was abandoned before reaching the underlying Welwitschia Deep prospect and was drilled to the west of the Marula lead, located in the Upper Cretaceous - the primary target of Welwitschia-1A.
Peter Hill, Global Petroleum’s CEO, com- mented: “Finalising this data for equity deal with our partner NAMCOR is a major step forward for Global, enabling us both to conserve cash and to advance our exploration programme for PEL0094 very significantly. We wish in particu- lar to thank NAMCOR for working with us to conclude this agreement, notwithstanding the necessary Covid-19 related restrictions and resulting logistical challenges, which currently affect us all.”

West Africa: SeaBird
reports contract update
for Eagle Explorer
Further to the notice of January 27, 2020, SeaBird Exploration has been notified that the end-cli- ent has cancelled the two OBN surveys off West Africa due to the COVID-19 situation. The Eagle Explorer has mobilised and is ready for work, and the Company expects to be made whole on the contract.
SeaBird is a global provider of marine acqui- sition for 2D/3D and 4D seismic data, and asso- ciated products and services to the oil and gas industry. SeaBird specialises in high quality operations within the high end of the source vessel and 2D market, as well as in the shallow/ deepwater 2D/3D and 4D market. Main focus for the company is proprietary seismic surveys
(contract seismic). Main success criteria for the company are an unrelenting focus on Quality, Health, Safety and Environment (QHSE), com- bined with efficient collection of high-quality seismic data.

TDI-Brooks completes
MSGBC field data
acquisition for TGS,
commences another
offshore Nigeria
TDI-Brooks International (under contract to TGS) has completed the offshore “seep-hunting” surface geochemical analysis and geotechnical campaign of the MSGBC Basin, from northern Senegal through The Gambia and AGC zone, into Guinea-Bissau down to the Guinea trans- form fault.
TDI-Brooks’ R/V Gyre acquired 80,000 square km of high resolution multibeam echo sounder bathymetry and performed the offshore advanced analysis where 80 active hydrocarbon seeps were detected in the multibeam water col- umn data to date. The R/V Proteus completed phase 2 performing the coring programme, which included 260 piston cores, 23 jumbo piston cores and 23 heat flow measurements. Advanced geochemical analysis of samples is ongoing.
The R/V Gyre is currently performing a fur- ther geochemistry analysis program offshore Nigeria. This is Nigeria’s first regional multi-cli- ent multibeam and seafloor sampling (MB&SS) study. After just three days of field operation, two prominent water column anomalies and bubble plumes were observed in over 2,000 metres water depth with associated surface slicks.
The study will cover an area of approximately 80,000 square km of the offshore Niger Delta and will incorporate around 150 cores from the sea- bed, which target multibeam backscatter anom- alies. To date, the RV Gyre has collected 65,000 square km of multibeam data and identified 431 watercolumn anomalies in the Nigeria study area.
The Gyre is fitted with a EM302 MBES (EM304 upgrade pending) and should be availa- ble for programs off North, West, and East Africa after approximately June 2020.
The Proteus is in dry-dock for approximately 2 months and then available for work in the June timeframe. She is undergoing her 5-year dry-docking and retrofitting in Las Palmas. The Proteus will be available on the spot market for projects in West Africa.
