US-made components were found in Iranian Drones. An Iranian Shahed-136 drone, shot down by Ukrainian air defence in the fall of 2022, consists of parts manufactured by American companies. According to CNN, of the 52 components removed from the Iranian Shahed-136 drone, 40 were produced by 13 American companies. The companies that made the other 12 components are from Canada, Switzerland, Japan, Taiwan, and China. The authors of the article note that Iranian companies under sanctions are successfully circumventing bans on supplying them with key components and electronics. For example, Iran Aircraft Manufacturing Industries Corporation (HESA), which designed the Shahed-136, has been under US sanctions for 15 years - since 2008. At the same time, there is no evidence that any manufacturing companies are deliberately exporting their technologies to circumvent sanctions and often cannot ensure full control over the actions of their distributors.
The OSCE believes that the Russian Federation should remain a member of the organisation. Secretary General of the organisation for Security and Cooperation in Europe Helga Maria Schmid believes that the Russian Federation should remain a member of the organisation for the time being, as the OSCE will, in time, again need communication channels. At the same time, she emphasised that the Russian Federation attacked Ukraine and is the aggressor in this war. These actions trample such fundamental principles of the OSCE as state sovereignty, territorial integrity, and the prohibition of violence. However, unlike the Council of Europe, the OSCE does not have a suspension mechanism that could be used to exclude Russia.
