The level of Russian citizens' confidence in President Vladimir Putin has inched back by 0.1 percentage points to 78.4% at the end of December, according to the All-Russian Public Opinion Research Center’s survey conducted from December 26 to December 30 among 1,600 Russian respondents aged over 18.
The poll’s figures for the Russian government and Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin were positive, standing at 49.9% (+0.2 p.p.) and 52.8% (+0.4 p.p.), respectively, the report said. Mishustin was trusted by 61.8% of respondents (+0.5 p.p. over the week).
Those surveyed also expressed their confidence in the heads of various parliamentary factions. Russia’s Communist Party (CPRF) leader Gennady Zyuganov earned the trust of 31.6% of the respondents (-2.6 p.p.), Sergey Mironov, who chairs A Just Russia — For Truth, enjoyed the support of 32.4% of those surveyed (+1.3 p.p.), the leader of The New People party, Alexey Nechayev, garnered 9.9% (+1.4 p.p.) and leader of the Liberal Democratic Party of Russia (LDPR) Leonid Slutsky got 14.8% (-0.2 p.p.).
The level of support for the ruling United Russia party stood at 38.4% (+1.2 p.p. over one week), with the CPRF supported by 10.4% (-0.4 p.p. over the week). The New People party’s figures came to 4.1% (-0.5 p.p. per week), while the LDPR got 9.3% (+0.1 p.p. over one week), and A Just Russia — For Truth was supported by 5.7% (unchanged over the week).
Do you feel responsible for what is happening in the country? (Levada poll) The “I feel no responsibility whatsoever” group, rendered in blue, has shrunk significantly over years. Breaking point comes in 2017-18 when most Russians began saying they prefer change to stability.
