Georgia receives most remittances from Russia in June
Georgia's volume of money transfers received from abroad in June amounted to around $427.4mn (GEL 1,262.6mn), up 111.7% y/y, according to a report published by the National Bank of Georgia (NBG).
Some 98.0% of the transfers were received from Georgia's 24 largest partner countries. Most came from Russia, with €231.4mn transferred in June, up 492% y/y.
The second biggest volume of remittances came from Italy, with $35.6mn arriving, up 12.2% y/y. The US was third with €28mn, up 10.7% y/y (see table below).
