Belarus offers transit of Ukrainian grain through its territory to Lithuanian ports. Belarus is prepared to allow the transit of Ukrainian grain through its territory for export from Lithuanian ports without preconditions, said UN Secretary-General Stefan Dujarric after meeting with the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Belarus Yuriy Ambrazevych. However, Ambrazevic also repeated his government's request for the possibility of exporting its fertilisers, which are currently subject to sanctions. Lithuanian President Gitanas Nauseda called Belarus’ grain transit proposal a “trap.” According to Nauseda, Belarus is trying to avoid sanctions with this proposal. "Ukrainian grain is already travelling through Poland and other countries to the Baltic ports. This is a trap. Let's not fall into it," he claims.

China is interested in importing oil, soy, poultry, meat, and more food products from Ukraine. Ukraine and China will deepen trade and economic relations in the agricultural sector and consider the possibilities of expanding the range of Ukrainian exports, discussed the Minister of Agrarian Policy Mykola Solskyi with the Ambassador of China to Ukraine, Fan Xianzhong. It is noted that during the meeting, both parties emphasized the productivity of the long-term cooperation between the countries and expressed concern about the delays in issuing permission documents for the export of corn and soybeans to China for next year. The Ukrainian minister also assured the Chinese diplomat that Ukraine fully ensures internal food security, even in war conditions, and has the potential to increase exports, including to China.
  5.2.2 Current account dynamics
Ukraine recorded a current account surplus of $227mn in November of 2022.
Ukraine’s current account surplus has been held up by the some $28bn of foreign macro support aide money sent by its Western allies in 2022 that has been enough to cover the budgetary costs of running the economy during the war.
The main part of this aid started arriving in September after the EU and US pledged $18bn each to support Ukraine in 2022. The two donors have also promised to cover the $38bn budget deficit predicted for 2023.
