American pharmaceutical firm MSD (Merck Corporation) has announced it will halt the supply of the hepatitis C drug Zepatier to Russia, Kommersant reported on August 23, citing the Russian regulator Roszdravnadzor.
The move comes as part of a larger trend of foreign pharmaceutical companies winding down their business in Russia due to sanctions.
Russian regulations mandate foreign suppliers of medications to provide at least a year's notice before ceasing the supply of a drug. MSD said that the decision to stop the deliveries of the Hepatitis drug would not impact the scheduled deliveries for the year 2024.
