Additionally, without the services of Switzerland-based Allseas for pipe-laying, the construction process itself could well be slower. Therefore, while theoretically a 3rd Turk Stream line could begin operations 3 years from now, it could well be up to 5 years from now before that happens.
Deliveries of Russian gas to Europe in transit through Ukraine in October remained the same at 42.4 mln cubic metres through the Sudzha gas distribution station, follows from the data on the website of the GTS (Gas Transmission System) Operator of Ukraine. This transit line through Ukraine remains the only route for Russian gas supplies to the countries of Western and Central Europe after the destruction at the Nord Stream.
At the same time, despite the decline in gas supplies from Russia, European countries continue to fill their storage facilities - the level of reserves in underground gas storage facilities (UGS) has already approached around 92%, according to data from Gas Infrastructure Europe. Previously, the EU countries pledged to fill UGS facilities by at least 80% by the winter of 2022-2023 and by 90% by all subsequent winter periods.
The filling of storage facilities is largely due to the purchase of liquefied natural gas (LNG) and supply through alternative pipelines at current high prices. Since the beginning of October, the average gas price has been about $1,625 per 1,000 cubic metres. It decreased compared to September due to gas reserves appriaching maximum, relatively warm weather in the EU, and a significantly increased average share of wind generation in electricity generation.
Russia can reduce natural gas production by about 10% in 2022, Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Novak told reporters on the sidelines of the Russian Energy Week forum.
Russia intends to boost development of the country’s tanker fleet to carry hydrocarbons, Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Novak said during the Russian Energy Week forum. "As far as diverting gas exports, we have a plan. By the way, we will boost the production of tankers, the tanker fleet for transportation," Novak said. Russia will also develop gas supply infrastructure to Asia, the official said.
Russia may increase the volume of pipeline gas exports to the east up to 100bn cubic metres (bcm) per year, Russian Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Novak said at the Russian Energy Week. "This is one directions of infrastructure development gives us about 100bn cubic metres of additional gas supplies in the eastern direction," he said. According to him, this includes the Power of Siberia gas pipeline, which will deliver 22bn cubic metres in 2023, and 38bn cubic metres by 2027. Russia will also supply 10bn cubic metres via the new Far Eastern route, as well as 50bn cubic metres of gas via the Power of Siberia-2 pipeline currently under discussion.
