China will stop transporting goods to the EU through Russia. In the nine months of 2022, the volume of cargo transported from China to Europe and back through the territory of the Russian Federation fell by more than a third (35%). According to the Deputy General Director of Russian Railways, Oleksiy Shilo, by the end of the year, the volume of transit rail container transportation will drop by 25%. The results of the three quarters of the current year show a drop in this indicator by 17.6% compared to the same period last year. China has started looking for new ways to deliver goods to Europe. In September in Samarkand, the participants of the summit of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation announced the creation of an international railway between China, Kyrgyzstan, and Uzbekistan that avoids Russian routes.
Russia’s non-resource non-energy exports added 7% in money terms in first eight months of 2022 year-on-year, reaching $125 bln, Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin said at a forum on October 20.
Russian coal companies export coal at a 50–60% discount amid external restrictions, but the exports are still profitable, First Deputy Prime Minister Andrei Belousov said at a forum on Thursday. “We have coal discounts of 50–60%. That is, a downward deviation of our contract prices, which the coal companies conclude, they are forced to sell coal at approximately half of the market price. But it turns out to be OK, it is still profitable and quite acceptable,” he said.
