At the same time, the WP emphasizes that a year and a half after the full-scale invasion of Ukraine by the Russian Federation, public support for financial aid in the US is fluctuating, especially among Republicans. The authors also compare the total amount of assistance provided by the US to European countries at the end of World War II. With US support, Ukraine will conduct an audit of American financial aid.
The Accounting Chamber and partners from the US have organized two audits of the US' direct budget support to Ukraine, according to a relevant document from the Accounting Chamber. It is noted that 25 auditors were trained to conduct the audit in July with assistance from USAID and the US Government Accountability Office (GAO). The first audit concerns salary payments to teachers, employees of higher education institutions, aid to IDPs, support for entrepreneurs who have lost income, and housing subsidies. The second concerns the payment of wages to medical workers. The document emphasizes that the audit results will be necessary for further international financial support of Ukraine. The results of the audit will be presented to the US Congress. According to the Ministry of Finance, in 2023, Ukraine received $8.45B in direct budget support grant funds from the US.
Congress will pass bipartisan supplemental funding for Ukraine. The White House is optimistic that Congress will pass supplemental aid for Ukraine on a bipartisan basis, even as Republicans in the House have voiced opposition to additional money for Ukraine, reported CNN. White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre said the Biden administration is grateful for the bipartisan support for Ukraine thus far, adding that the president is "confident that that support is going to continue as we work together to make sure that the Ukrainian people have everything that they need to continue to fight bravely for their freedom."In a letter to Congress Thursday, the Biden administration requested more than $24B in supplemental funding, including more than $13B in security assistance and $7.3B for economic and humanitarian assistance for Ukraine.

The US will also supply ambulances and "spare parts, services, training, and transportation," Blinken said. "This package of weapons and equipment, valued at $250M, is being executed under drawdowns previously directed for Ukraine," he said.
The US State Department has urged Congress urgently to allocate an additional $24B to Ukraine. According to US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken, Congress should immediately approve additional funding for military, economic, and humanitarian aid to Ukraine. He also assured the Ukrainian people of long-term support. "Next week, it will be one and a half years since the full-scale invasion of Russia. For the same amount of time, the people of Ukraine have demonstrated outstanding courage and resilience," said Blinken. He also emphasized: "Last week, President Biden requested $24.1B from Congress to fulfill this promise and continue to support Ukraine's security, economic and humanitarian needs, as well as help other countries experiencing the consequences of Russian invasion."
